A Naukri Resdex Alternative for Hiring Engineers
Resdex lets you search a huge resume database, for a subscription. Switchly brings applicants to your job for free and ranks every one against your JD.
You don't have to drop Naukri. Most hiring teams post in more than one place.
If you've hired in India, you've almost certainly used Naukri. Its job postings reach every industry and city, and Resdex, its resume database, is the default place recruiters and agencies go to search for candidates. For high-volume hiring that reach is hard to beat. But if you're a founder or engineering manager hiring two or three engineers, paying for database access and then working through keyword search results is a lot of cost and effort for a small, specific shortlist.
The short answer
Pick Naukri if…
- You're hiring at volume, across many roles, functions or cities.
- You want to proactively source passive candidates from a very large database.
- You're hiring for non-tech roles as well as engineering.
Pick Switchly if…
- You're hiring a handful of engineers and want a ranked shortlist, not a database to search.
- You don't want to pay for postings or database access before you've seen a single good candidate.
- You're a founder or engineering manager doing the hiring yourself, without a recruiting team.
Or use both. Keep Naukri for reach and volume, and post the same role on Switchly free. Every applicant there is scored against your JD and sorted best-first, so you can see whether the shortlist is better.

The real difference: searching a database vs ranking your applicants
Resdex is a search tool. You pay for access, type in keywords, experience and location, and work through the results, then contact the people who look right. For a recruiter filling many roles a month, that's an efficient way to reach a lot of candidates. For a founder filling one backend role, it often means hours of keyword searches and outreach to people who may not be looking.
Switchly starts from your job instead. You post it free, engineers who want the role apply, and each one is scored against your JD the moment they apply, with the reasoning written out. The question changes from "who in this database might fit?" to "which of the people who want this job fit best?", which is usually the faster way to a shortlist for a small, specific hire.
They aren't mutually exclusive. If you already pay for Naukri, keep it for reach and volume, and post the same engineering role on Switchly for free. Compare the two shortlists after a week and keep whichever works.

What is the best alternative to Naukri Resdex for hiring engineers?
If you're hiring a few engineers rather than sourcing at volume, a job board that ranks applicants for you is usually faster than a database you search. Switchly is free: post the role and every applicant is scored 0–100 against your JD with the reasoning shown. LinkedIn Recruiter, Instahyre and Cutshort are other options, each with its own pricing and model.
How much does Naukri Resdex cost?
Naukri sells Resdex as subscription packages and doesn't publish one price list; the price depends on the package, the number of CVs you can access and the number of users. Check Naukri's recruiter site or ask its sales team for a current quote. Third-party figures online vary widely and go out of date quickly.
Is posting a job on Naukri free?
Naukri offers a free job posting option that it reviews before the post goes live, alongside paid Hot Vacancy and Classified packages with more features. Resume database access through Resdex is sold separately. On Switchly, posting is free for up to 10 active jobs, and AI ranking is included on all of them.
Can I use Naukri and Switchly together?
Yes. Many teams post the same role in several places. Keep Naukri for reach, post on Switchly free, and compare the shortlists. Switchly's AI ranking means you only need to look at the top of the list to judge whether it's working.
Does Switchly have a resume database like Resdex?
Switchly has a candidate search that every hirer can use for free, with filters for skills, location, experience, salary and company tier. It's far smaller than Naukri's database and covers engineers only, so it works best alongside posting a role rather than as a replacement for large-scale sourcing.
